Getting Fiber:
Apartment/Condo
How does an Atherton Fiber MDU installation process work?
If your property is an apartment, retirement home, office block, or multi-use development, it is most likely a multi-dwelling unit, or MDU. To get started, we’ll set up an appointment with an Atherton Fiber technician, who will meet you at your address to discuss the work required to upgrade your place to fiber, depending on your property type. If your property requires a complex installation, we will work with you every step of the way to find the best solution.
This section describes a standard Atherton Fiber installation for apartments and condominiums.

Step One: Getting fiber into your building
We start by bringing fiber from your street into the building and then bringing the fiber from the building’s communications room (MPOE) to each of the floors and apartments.

Step Two: Getting fiber into the units
We have a few options of getting fiber to the units. We use existing risers, stairwells and ceilings, outside of the building along existing wiring, internally using discrete cables along the wall in the common areas. We build the fiber infrastructure to go pass each unit or apartments so all tenants can connect to the internet.
